Interesting prescription - for crazy

Had quite an experience at my site visit yesterday at a local not-for-profit medication/health assistance institution... a patient came in to have 4 prescriptions filled. Three of them we filled without incident but the 4th we just plain did not have in stock (their stock depends on what has been donated by private donors and the local hospital and nursing homes as well as what is cheap enough for them to buy with their meager funds). When the tech told the patient that we could not fill that particular prescription (which was for an inhaler solution, not anything that should be critical to life) the patient got nasty. "It is your personal responsibility for killing me Lindy, for threatening to not give me my medicine!" The tech hadn't threatened her at all, just let her know we did not have that in stock but that if she had time to visit with the clinic's doctor we could get it changed to something we did have. The patient then continued with random accusations and threats until security came to escort her from the building. Outside the building she raised such a fuss that the police came and arrested her! The tech was so shaken up that she stayed in the office for about an hour or so. Crazy, huh? We were swamped with just the pharmacist and me entering and filling for an hour.
I've been keeping busy with school... Mum and Dad just got back from their vacation. I'm glad to have them home. It was pretty lonely at the house by myself (with the dogs of course), even if it was for just a couple of days. Forced myself to study, hopefully that pays off later. Lots of planning and organizing to do for everything school related. I feel like I'm losing touch with my friends from undergrad & HS...
Dawn called last Friday to let me know she and her husband are expecting! Yay and congrats!

A Scorecard or a timesheet?

I just recently saw the music video for Alicia Keys' song "No One" - I'm really diggin' that song (though not so much the video, liked the clockwork bit but the rest... eh). "No one, no one, no one Can get in the way of what I’m feeling. I don’t worry cuz Everything's gonna be alright. People keep talking. They can say what they like. But all I know is everything’s gonna be alright." Sure she's talking about a relationship between a couple that's had some hard times but it's so positive and, to be cliche, inspiring. Everything is going to be okay. I'm not going to let other people get me down or smash my happiness. Pretty lyrics with pretty music means it scores well in my book...
Scored a 78% on that horrible Kinetics test - Woohoo for passing! Also made a 96% on the final for PDA which upped my total ending grade in that module to an 87%! Yay! (That's one of the first tests in a very long time that I've not only beaten the class average but really, truly surprised myself by how well I actually did.)
Within the last 48 hours I've thrown together not one, but two beautifully simple slideshows. No big frills, bangs, sparklers, or distracting transitions, just the information needed. Score one for the minimalist in me!
Heard Monday from one of our professors who works with the mentally disabled that a very high percent of women will, through out a lifetime, deal with her own obsessive compulsive disorder. I do believe it. I wonder what the exact stats are? I know it brings me great joy to put things in order! Men luck out with alcoholism and avoidance tendancies. Seems like everyone scores around there! (Said professor was a tad nutty - work might have rubbed off a little, huh?)
Have a beautiful day!

Fall forward

Sooo... October huh? It's here already? Who knew and why didn't they let me know sooner??
Dad's birthday was good, abet full of studying kinetics for my test on Friday at 8am (Possibly one of the suckiest times ever to have one of the worst/hardest/most frustrating tests ever). Still have no idea how I scored on that one...
Since then have worked, studied a ton more, killed three mechanical pencils (one of which I'd been using for over a year with no prior difficulty), attended roughly 15 hours of classes and 4 hours of organizational meetings, rounded out rush with Bid Day (successful), visited Skronky to watch a movie, put in 9 hours of site visit, sent 3-4 dozen emails, taken a final for a 2 hour course, done laundry twice, and not cleaned my room once. Which I really should.
I think I'm going to be a cat for Halloween parties this year. Already have the ears and everything else is pretty easy.
Remember how I'm supposed to make a gift for my family's gift exchange this year (See
Dec 19th's post from last year)? Well I'm having trouble deciding what to make. Any ideas? I still don't really want to comply with the decree that we must make it but since it's family I'm pretty much obligated to play nice. I can sew, etch glass, bead, paint, stencil, cross stitch, cook, and bake all fairly well so end up having a few too many options. Oh yeah, and I'm really cheap. Comment with any suggestions please?
